Show — how much of the family to show

What it does. Chooses which circle of the family the chart shows:

  • Mainline: the line between your protagonists and the spouses it runs

    through.
  • + immediate family: adds their brothers, sisters and spouses.
  • + spouses: adds the husbands and wives of those brothers and sisters.
  • + descendants: adds all their descendants and the people they married.
  • + ancestors: adds the ancestor families, whole households included.
  • all: everyone this TreeLine may show.

Why you might use it. A large tree is clearer for a gift when it shows

just the line from great-grandparents to the newest grandchild; a research

copy can show everyone.

Where to find it. Right-click the empty canvas › Show, or

Ctrl+Alt+1 to 6.

How to use it. Choose a circle. People outside it are hidden, not

deleted. To bring back particular people, right-click someone beside them ›

Show/Hide (for example Reveal specific hidden relatives…).

What to expect. Choosing a circle shows everyone in it, even people you

hid yourself; Ctrl+Z takes the choice back in one step. No family facts

change. Set your protagonists first: the Mainline runs between them.
