Names on bars

Where to find it. Settings › People and labels.

How to use it.

• Name label position — Start, Centre or End of the bar.
• Middle names › Omit middle names, for automatically generated
  
  bar names.
• Children's names › Leave out the surname for children who died
  
  young: for someone whose recorded birth and death years show they died
  
  before 16. Anyone without a recorded birth year keeps their surname.
• Label fit › Review labels lists names that were shortened to
  
  fit their bar, or that won't fit at all. Click a name to go to that
  
  person on the chart, or Edit to change their label.

What to expect. A name you have typed or edited yourself is never

changed by these settings.
