Role, Lineage and Sibling set overlays

What they do.

• Role colours everyone by their part in the story: Protagonists,

the Mainline, the Mainline immediate family, Descendants of

mainline immediate family, and Ancestors not on the mainline.
• Lineage sorts everyone into four families: Mainline & immediate

family, Descendants & their spouses, Ancestor families of

mainline, and Ancestor families of descendants.
• Sibling set shows which of the people drawn are brothers and

sisters, each set in its own colour.

Why you might use them. To check that the chart tells the story you

intend: who the line runs through, which families married in, and which

people belong together as siblings.

Where to find them. Overlays, in the Canvas Controls or on the

right-click menu. The legend beside the chart names each colour and counts

the people in it.

What to expect. An overlay only paints the bars on screen: it does not

move anyone, change your family, or appear in the PDF. Choosing None

returns the chart to its own colours.
