Arrange
What it does. Keeps the arranging tools on the Arrange tab of the
docked Layout pane beside the chart: who is selected, who a change
applies to, and the move itself. The pane's Layout tab holds the
whole TreeLine's Layout choices, rules and spacing.
Why you might use it. A cousin's family sits far from the line you are
following. Select them, move them up beside their parents, and save the
move, without hunting through menus.
Where to find it. The ⇕ Layout button on the side bar, then the
Arrange tab, or
right-click a person › Arrange › Open Layout › Arrange….
How to use it.
- Click a person on the chart. Select ▾ adds relatives to the
selection. - Under Apply change to, tick who the move carries: Selected
person/people, Spouse(s), Siblings, Descendant branch,
Ancestor branch. The chart marks exactly who will move. - Under Move, choose the Type: Free space moves them through
the open places on the chart; Sibling order moves a brother or
sister one place earlier or later among their siblings. - Press Up or Down (or the arrow keys). A green place moves
nobody else; an amber place makes room, and shows who would step
aside before anything is saved. - Save move (or Enter) keeps it; Esc cancels it.
What to expect. Moving people changes only their arrangement on this
TreeLine, never your family facts. Every move is one step in Undo and in
the TreeLine's history, even after you reload. To choose which way a
branch grows, right-click a person › Arrange › Grow up or Grow
down.
Behaviour. At the foot of the pane, two choices (both start off, and
are remembered in this browser): Open Arrange when a person is
selected, and Show Arrange overlay when Arrange is open, which
colours the selected person's relatives while the pane is open.
