Protagonists — who a TreeLine is about
What they do. Marking someone as a protagonist tells TreeLine whose
story this chart tells. The Mainline runs between the protagonists,
through the spouses it passes, and it decides what Show › Mainline
keeps, what the Role and Lineage overlays call the main line, and which
branches Keep branches together can tell apart.
Where to set them.
- Right-click a person › Set as protagonist (or Remove as
protagonist). - In the People pane, the star beside a name: ★ is a protagonist,
☆ is not.
What to expect. Protagonists belong to this TreeLine, not to the
Family: another TreeLine of the same family can be about someone else.
With none set, the Mainline cannot be chosen, and settings that depend on
it (such as Keep branches together) say so rather than doing nothing
silently.
