Creating a Family

What it is. A Family holds the facts; each TreeLine in it is one

chart design of that Family. One Family can have several TreeLines.

How to fill it. Create a Family offers:

• Enter data manually — start empty and add people, partners and
  
  events yourself.
• Import from GEDCOM — upload a file exported from Ancestry,
  
  FamilySearch or any genealogy app.
• Import from spreadsheet template — download the TreeLine Excel
  
  template, fill it in, then upload it.
• Start from a prepared example — a ready-made fictional family, to
  
  explore TreeLine straight away.
• Start from the Library — a ready-made Family from the TreeLine
  
  Library, chart design included.
• Copy an existing Family — a full copy of one of your Families.

Give the Family a name (for example "The Burdett Family").

Default country for matching places. Places that name no country are

looked up here first; leave it as None to match places worldwide.

Change it any time on the Family Map. A copy keeps the setting of the

Family it copies.

Making a TreeLine for a wedding? Choose Start with the couple

instead: no family history is needed.
