Exporting a Family

Where to find it. TreeLines, then Export on the Family. Choose

one of three kinds and Save as….

The three kinds.

• Family spreadsheet — an Excel copy of your people, unions and
  
  events, for sharing or reviewing. Private people are left out and living
  
  people's details are reduced.
• GEDCOM — the standard genealogy exchange format, read by Ancestry,
  
  Family Tree Maker and other genealogy software. Filtered for privacy in
  
  the same way.
• Full data backup — your complete family data, including private and
  
  living people, plus every TreeLine design. Not the one to share.
  
  Photo and picture files are not included, and there is no automatic
  
  restore from it.

What to expect. Exporting changes nothing in the Family. The

spreadsheet can be edited and brought back with Update.
